Carhartt WIP to Expand NYC Locations with $10.5M Williamsburg Purchase

A spinoff of the retail brand known for its heavy canvas clothes has added its name to the growing roster of apparel and fashion brands purchasing their storefront locations. In August, Carhartt Work In Progress closed on the purchase of 132 Bedford Avenue for $10.5 million from L3 Capital. The building’s 3,800-square-foot ground level space features a 24-foot double-height ceiling and there is an additional 1,400 square feet of basement space. The acquisition of the Williamsburg site will establish the retailer’s second New York City location; and upon opening will join its 286 Lafayette Street store currently in operation in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood. The Chicago-based private equity firm had taken control of the recently refurbished 2-story building in 2021 in a deed-in-lieu-of-foreclosure move by developer Redsky Capital, having acquired the property in 2013 for $11.223 million.
