Initial renderings were released of the planned redevelopment of the 26-story Grand Hyatt Hotel at 175 Park Avenue. Located by Grand Central Terminal, co-developers RXR Realty and TF Cornerstone will be constructing the office-and-hotel development that will reach a linear height of 1,600-feet. A new public train hall at the base of the 83-story, 2.2 million-square-foot tower will help ease commuter congestion at Grand Central Terminal, by adding street entrances for the 4, 5, 6 and 7 subway lines and relocating the subway turnstiles from Grand Central’s mezzanine to the ground level of the new train hall. In addition, a 12,000-square-foot underground passageway to be constructed will provide links to the Long Island Road tracks in the currently under construction East Side Access Terminal, allowing Metro North and LIRR commuters direct access to the subway platforms.
