1,050-foot Tall Tower Proposed for Site of Former MTA Madison Ave Headquarters

Boston Properties is developing the proposed 753,120-square-foot structure that will replace the Metropolitan Transportation Authorities’ (MTA) former headquarters at 343 Madison Avenue between East 44th and 45th Streets. Designs by architecture firm Kohn Pedersen Fox reveal a 1,050-foot-tall structure, the majority of which has been designated for office use, along with a small retail component. In addition, a direct below-grade connection to the future East Side Access project that will bring the Long Island Rail Road east, as well as subterranean circulation paths toward Grand Central Terminal have been incorporated into the design. Demolition of the existing structures is already underway.
