New York State’s First Woman Governor Sworn In Today

The former congressmen from Buffalo that most recently served as Lieutenant Governor under Governor Cuomo was sworn in today as New York State’s 57th governor; and more notably, the “first woman to ascend to the state’s highest office.” The announcement comes following Governor Andrew Cuomo’s decision to resign after 10 years in office amid a series of sexual harassment allegations made against him. Ms. Hochul will be confronted with various pressing state issues, among which, a still surging pandemic and economic uncertainty remain in the forefront; while intending to change the culture in Albany and pursue a “fresh collaborative approach.”
