Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Unveils Plans for Proposed New Midtown Bus Terminal on Existing Site

According to PANYNJ’s overview of its plans for the outdated Midtown West bus terminal, the proposed new terminal to be constructed on the existing site will deliver a “21st Century Best in Class Facility;” and will provide “capacity for projected bus service ridership growth through 2040.” Sustainable features include a design to accommodate a 100% electric bus fleet; and to help finance the project in part, PANYNJ to exercise a provision within the bi-state transportation agency’s 2017-2026 Capital Plan of selling development rights for up to four new high-rise towers that have been identified.
