The Union Square BID, along with design partner Marvel, released a 122-page proposed vision plan “for transforming the greater Union Square-14th Street area into New York City’s most accessible space.” The proposal focuses on five key improvements—to transform 14th Street into a world -class boulevard and permanent crosstown transitway; increase public open space by 33 percent by expanding Union Square Park to the surrounding building edges; improve streetscape elements; enhance the Broadway plaza at 17th Street, which serves as the gateway to Union Square; and improve the park master plan to address overall infrastructure.
